K Comp Finals!

Hey everyone! I know this post is long overdue, but I was waiting for all the vids to come up before I blogged. Unfortunately, the finer details kind of washed away, so I'll try my best to recap it for you all! It's also a great way to kick off my sexy new layout thanks to my baby =D

It started with an early 10am kick off at the waiwai office in a desolate block at Ultimo. Here, the finalists were prepped up with "stage make-up." Now, the head stylist, Danny, warned us the night before at rehearsal that we should NOT complain about how we look, as stage make up is much more exaggerated and heavier than normal make up. We all shrugged and agreed at the time, but boy were we all in for a shock!

The first finalist, Ray, came out looking like a chinese concubine, with loads of mascara, blush, foundation, and just about anything else you can put on your face (and is not in my vocabulary of such cosmetic items =D). Upon seeing Ray, the rest of the male finalists started to get very nervous (myself included). After it was done, I think most of the male contestants (including myself) all looked like girly girls x__x

So after being called an oompa loompa, a nigger, and other colourful names, we all headed off to the theatre, transported by van. Here we spent pretty much the rest of the day in the waiting room upstairs doing ....nothing. Some contestants had routines to practice, and so were doing their own little dance in their own little world. Others, like myself, just sat there quietly listening to their iPods =] I don't think I even had a proper lunch, just some sushi I scabbed from other people =X

As show time grew closer, we grew more restless and nervous. In the morning before I left, I youtubed some voice warming tips and recalled them to reheat my pipes before my on-stage debut!

The first time I went on-stage was definitely the most frightening. Even though you know you have heaps of supporting fans out there, it's always nerve-wracking, but also adrenaline-pumping. Nothing feels as good as walking onto a stage full of loud cheers and applause! So thanks to all my friends who came and cheered me on! =]

Pretty much the rest of the night was an exhilirating blur of entertainment, suspense, and glory as I made the cut through to the second and final rounds. I think I'll just stop typing and let you guys watch the videos! They're all up on facebook, but I'll embed them here for your viewing pleasure =]

Round 1 Song - Black Humour

Round 2 Song - Snail (Acapella)

Round 3 Song - Silence

Thanks again for everyone who came!! You all made it a very very special night for me. I remember after it was all over and I went outside to see all of my friends there congratulating me, and it all just felt like a really awesome dream. So thank you all so much, I really appreciate everyone's support! =D

zoooom

Where the heck did my holidays go??? I can't believe I'm already back at uni....honestly, sitting in sleep-inducing lectures, catching the bus up, bumping into old friends - all the familiar feelings of going back to uni, still feel very surreal to me. I guess I'm still in holiday mode! I'll definitely try to get back into it after my little weekend retreat to the GC with Yi =D

Reflecting back in my short but sweet mid semester break, I realised that I kept myself too busy to realise that uni was drawing ever so close! In fact, today I woke up at 11 a.m. and realised that today was the first day in a long time that I could actually sleep in! Nothing like living life to the fullest! Although every once in a while, everyone needs a nice relaxing break =D

Til next time!
